Where knitting and reading unite! I have started Knit & Purlsuasion as a way to keep my family informed about what I am currently up to, since I do not live close to them. I am a knitter and a reader, so most my posts will probably pertain to one of those passions. Welcome and please leave comments and thoughts.
WE GOT A DOG!!His name is Harold the Hound. We got him through a foster program that gets dogs out of shelters and into homes. We went through the adoption process and just got him last night! He is a wonderful dog and is already feeling comfortable and at home. He does have some separation anxiety so we will be working with him to make him feel more comfortable being alone when we are at work. We will keep you posted on his progress. We did go back to Kansas City for X-mas, but we forgot our camera. I have pictures from Thanksgiving still to post and am off work this week, so will post them later.
Happy Birthday to Jane Austen!! She was born on this day in 1775.
I found this awesome Jane Austen inspired cake on flickr. Thanks to ScottRyder for the wonderful picture. I hope that you all have a wonderful Jane Austen birthday day!
It's true - they are making a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie! Variety posted about it here. Natalie Portman apparently is going to play Lizzie. Who's excited!!!
Sorry for the hiatus. I have been out of town for a little over two weeks. I went back home to help my sister with my new niece...needless to say there will be lots of pictures to follow of both Brooklyn and Aidan. In addition to helping my sister out, Adam and I spent Thanksgiving with his family this year. It was awesome. We were all able to be there which was really nice and we had a wonderful few days together - and again, there will be lots of pictures (mainly of little David :) ) to follow.
I just wanted to let you know that I am back and to expect posts soon.
They are having a Jane Austen exhibition at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York. It is entitled "A Woman's Wit: Jane Austen's Life and Legacy," and it runs from Nov. 6 - March 14th! I might be talking Adam into going to NYC again soon :)
Happy November everyone. I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween. If you haven't had a chance, you need to check out the pictures of Aidan and Brooklyn on my sister's blog. Aidan makes the best lion ever (I might be biased, but he is stinking cute!)We were able to light our pumpkins last night (as you can see). They looked awesome in the dark; especially our KU one (even if our football team didn't this weekend - we aren't talking about it here at our apartment). Our Halloween was good. Adam was able to go to a party last night which was a lot of fun, I had to stay home with a migraine however, so I have had better Halloweens, but still not a bad day.
We went to Bull Run yesterday morning. It was that last major civil war battlefield in the area that we needed to go to, so we can check that off our list of things to do. While it was a little overcast in the morning, it turned out to be a beautiful fall day and will probably be our last, so I am glad that we took advantage of it.
It is getting close to Halloween, and I LOVE Halloween. I brought out my boo slipper socks at work today (I get cold at work, so I wear slipper socks in my office). Yesterday, Adam and I carved two of our pumpkins that we got from the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time that we have carved pumpkins together and it was a lot of fun. As you can see our first one was the regular jack o'lantern. There really was no question about what our second one was going to be - KU! I have all of the pumpkin seeds sitting out drying and am going to bake them tonight. I haven't had baked pumpkin seeds in a while either, so I am getting pretty excited. I just hope that they are as good as I remember them being, because it took forever to get them cleaned off.
